Stage one uses a 100 percent diamond abrasive wheel to sharpen and create a new edge on dull blades. Stage two uses a fine grit diamond wheel to refine the edge after you use the abrasive wheel. Stage three uses an advanced stropping material to polish your blade, and give you a razor-sharp edge. The Wusthof 3 Stage Electric Sharpener is housed in a gray and silver durable plastic, with feet that secure it in place while sharpening. You don’t have to worry about finding the right angle because angle guides are built in. This sharpener is designed to be used with PEtech knife edges. PEtech is technology designed by Wusthof to provide superior sharpness.  The PEtech process includes measuring blades with lasers, computer calculation for precise sharpening angle, precision robots sharpen blades on a whetstone, and a special disk is used for the final polish. Although this sharpener is designed for these types of edges, it can still be used highly effectively with any knife or blade. The sharpening unit comes with a limited three-year warranty.

Customers on Amazon gave this sharpener an excellent rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars.  One customer said it worked so well it almost sliced off the lip of his finger. Another customer was not impressed at first, but after learning to use it, thinks it is brilliant.  Most reviews mentioned the razor sharpness that was achieved and the ease of use.  They also mentioned how helpful the instructions are. One customer did not like that the area in front of the slots is made of soft plastic, but understood it is to maintain the sharp edge that is created on the sharpener.
